"The history of Monroe House is murky, at best. Records say that the first foundation was laid for the house in the 1860s, while legends maintain that the house has had an ominous atmosphere since the beginning. Occupants were chased from the house by strange sights, sounds, and shadowy figures that made their lives unbearable. Truth or fiction? No one surviving can say, but records do say that no one lived in the house for more than a year at a time during its first century in existence. In the 1990s, rumors spread of occult activity in the place, which some believe caused an increase in strange activity. 

But whatever the reason behind the hauntings, there is one thing that nearly all of those who have investigated the building can agree on – there are some serious disturbances in the basement. In 2016, during the "Paranormal Lockdown" episode, human remains were discovered in the basement crawlspace, launching an official police investigation. According to a local funeral home director, the remains were "at least 100 years old," but they were sent away to an Indiana University for further testing. At this point, the identity of the person who was entombed in the "Demon House" basement remains unknown. Could they explain the frightening activity that has been experienced in the basement?

Many believe so, while others don't care – they aren't going back into the house! In 2014, a team of ghost hunters fled the house after a horrific experience in the basement that they refused to talk about. Everyone in the group panicked and ran out of the house, refusing to go back inside. Other groups have recorded eerie voices in the basement, while others maintain that the rest of the house is just as haunted and terrifying."

Investigators Notes

Jennifer, Lead Investigator: 
Equipment used during this investigation: Audio recorders, thermal cameras, notepads, emf meters, video recorders, trail cams, and motion sensors.
During this investigation, we started with individual investigations of the house. It is important to note that upon arrival, Sarah reported seeing a figure on the top floor peering out a window. She said he was about 6 ft tall, pale, and with dark hair. Thinking someone was there, the two of us went inside to see if perhaps the owner was there. We searched the bottom floor and finally found the staircase to the top floor, only to not find anyone. We did hear some movement as if somebody was walking around. It is possible this could have been the gate outside due to the wind, but the sound seemed to be coming from upstairs, not near the gate area.

Experiments on this investigation were:
TESLA COIL/EMF PUMP/ENERGY SATURATION: We set up multiple plasma spheres, two Tesla Coils, and an EM pump to see if putting energy in the air produced any paranormal activity. A Tesla coil is an electrical resonant transformer circuit designed by inventor Nikola Tesla in 1891. It takes the output from a kilovolt transformer and driver circuit and steps it up to an extremely high voltage that is discharged in the form of electrical arcs. A plasma ball is a miniature Tesla coil. Inside the ball is a coil of wires with electrons going through them oscillating at a very high frequency. Inside the glass globe is a partial vacuum. Because there is not as much air in the globe, it is easier to make electric sparks that can be seen. These electrons then travel out from the globe. We know this because a plasma ball will light up the light bulb when held near. Our findings are listed in the notes below.
OPPOSITE TRIGGER ROOM EXPERIMENT: We divided into two separate groups and went to different areas in the house to see if asking specific questions to the opposing group would trigger a specific response. Unfortunately, we had no noteworthy happenings.
SARAH'S SOLO INVESTIGATION TIMES OF INTEREST
8:45 PM:  Sarah attempted a solo session on the second floor. While there, she felt like somebody was watching her but would not come forward. 
9:05 PM: Sarah reported seeing "whispy" material in front of her face and heard what sounded like movement at 9:06.
9:07 PM-9:15 PM: She heard a knocking sound, felt something touch her earring, and began to feel very uncomfortable. 
BECKY'S SOLO INVESTIGATION TIMES OF INTEREST 
Becky spent her entire solo time in the Tesla Coil Experiment Room: When she entered the room, she immediately noticed one of her cameras and a battery-operated plasma ball were off. Both had fresh batteries less than an hour earlier. She replaced the batteries and turned them back on.

9:26 PM: Becky reported seeing possible shadow movement in the corner of the room.
9:31 PM: She turned the larger Tesla coil on and immediately reported feeling a new "charge" in the room.

9:40 PM: Becky turned off the coil and noted that she doubted she would be able to hear any of the sounds or noises outside of the room due to the air conditioner noise.
9:45 PM: She heard something that sounded like footsteps walking around in the kitchen, which was surprising because of her previous note about the AC. When she asked via Walkie if anyone had entered the house (to use the bathroom or grab snacks) but was told she was alone in the house. She also noticed more shadow movement in the doorway.

9:50 PM: She suddenly felt lightheaded and heard someone knocking on the wall three times. No one was there. 
TANIA'S SOLO INVESTIGATION TIMES OF INTEREST 
10 PM-10:30 PM: Tania started her solo investigation in the basement and began to feel slightly uneasy. She reported that a motion-activated cat toy was going off randomly.
JENNIFER'S SOLO INVESTIGATION TIMES OF INTEREST
10:40 PM-11:20 PM: Jennifer started her solo investigation in the Tesla Pump experiment room and reported no noticeable happenings. She then went downstairs but did not notice anything but a few outside noises. She then went upstairs to the Ouija Room and did not report anything noticeable again.
GROUP/DUO INVESTIGATIONS: We began duo investigations in the Tesla Pump Experiment room and Blue Room. Tania and Sarah went to the Tesla Room, and Becky and I went to the Blue Room. Becky and I did not experience anything in the Blue Room except the plasma sphere needed to have new batteries constantly. Tania and Sarah reported vibrations on the floor and knocking noises. Also, Tania felt as if something was touching her necklace and chest area.
During the group investigation of the Tesla Experiment Room, Becky, Tania, and Sarah all heard what sounded like a whistling sound. This was caught on an audio recorder. A chime sound was also heard, but the recorders did not pick that up. I heard what I thought to be voices coming from upstairs. Tania and the others also heard this, but our equipment did not pick up any movement or noise besides the whistling.
We then moved upstairs to the top floor. Becky, Tania, and Sarah all reported feeling very uneasy. Tania reported seeing a hunched-over shadow upstairs, and Becky reported seeing what seemed like the outline of a man similar in description to the figure Sarah reported seeing in the window. 
During this time, we did some activities with motion-activated equipment in the Ouija Room. Some random sounds were reported,  but nothing was picked up on equipment. Multiple investigators felt their hair was standing on end during the time up there. Becky and I reported feeling very warm at one point, which may be due to the natural temperature fluctuations upstairs. 
Tania and Sarah spent some time investigating the washroom area and felt very uncomfortable. I spent some time with Becky in the Ouija Room. We then switched and Tania went to the Ouija Room with Becky, and I joined Sarah. It was during this time that I caught a possible EVP. Overall, the upstairs seemed to be the most active location for many investigators. 
TESLA EXPERIMENT  FINDINGS: I found it interesting that most of us felt a change in the atmosphere after the Tesla coils were turned on, which seemed to produce possible activity. I will continue to experiment with this in the future.
