Location History

​

Easton is a city in Leavenworth County, in the Kansas City metro area. The community was named for Lucian J. Eastin, founder.

Question: How long have you lived here?

Answer: Approximately two years.

 

Question: When did the phenomena start?

Answer: At least six months ago.

 

Question: Any certain hour of the day or certain rooms?

Answer: Afternoons mostly, and at night. The kitchen and back bedrooms seem to be the most active.

 

Question: Any visual apparations?

Answer: Several family members have seen a shadow of a man. Young son plays and talks to "Bobby."

 

Question: How do the visual apparitions appear?

Answer: A dark shadow figure, male, approximately 6' tall. Seems to wear a ball cap.

 

Question: Have there been any movements of objects that you see?

Answer: Items will go missing that were put in a specific place, and found in other areas of the house.

 

Question: Any sounds?

Answer: Occasional tapping on the walls and footsteps are heard about the house.

 

Question: Any touches or caresses?

Answer: Some extended family members report feeling a "touch" while laying in bed.

 

Question: Did previous occupants, neighbors or landlords know of phenomena?

Answer: Unknown.

 

Question: How far back can you trace the history of the property?

Answer: Approximately 30 years, possibly built in the 1970s.

 

Question: Have there been any deaths or violent occurances in the the property?

Answer: Previous owner named "Robert" died while he was the homeowner. A murder happened on the street, but this does not seem connected to the activity.

 

Question: Give a brief explanation of what you have experienced:

Answer: Besides what has already been covered, at times a presence is felt in a room, or the feeling that someone is watching. Lights will flicker in the basement, pets bark and growl at the air. Infant child will wake up suddenly screaming.

Investigators Notes

Angela Hodge:First off want to thank the family for allowing us into there home and having free roam of the house to investigate. We arrived about 200pm, after the initial talk with the female owner we did a walk thru to see all the rooms and hear about anymore details about what has been happening. The main rooms that we were told that were active is the kitchen to the family room and the kids bedroom room. So Hugh set up a video camera facing the kitchen from the hallway and then at one time in the master bedroom facing the bathroom. Digital recorders were placed about the house to see if any EVP's could be found. As we walked thru the tour of the house I did not feel anything bad or get that feeling of something was there with us. The whole house felt pleasant and had a lived in home feeling which was nice. The owner told us that the past owner was a bus driver and had a love for children so she thought maybe it was him who is visiting the house and plays with her children at time. The name "Bobby" is mentioned as the children have called him that. The past owner name was Robert or Bob so they think maybe there is a connection there. After the owner left we went to the basement all together as when you walk upstairs you here the footsteps very clearly when you’re down there. So to not mislead any of us we all went down stairs to investigate. The past owners left some items in the basement and the present owners have not removed some of the items yet, so we checked the area and did not get anything out of that area. We decided to look into the light flickering that was mentioned in the basement and decided that nothing of paranormal came from it. The light fixture or wires leading to it possibly just needs to be completely replaced to stop the flickering as it's a florescent light fixture. We continued up stairs at this time we decided to break up into groups and went into separate rooms. Myself and Jen went into the children’s room prior to completely setting up Becky put scrabble letters on a children’s table with a toy outlined out nothing came of it, nothing was spelled out or the toy did not move. While in the room with Jen we decided to play with some of the toys to maybe draw out what was there while asking questions and nothing came of it but a few good laughs with the toys. We did have a digital recorder recording so after she goes over her stuff we'll see if she posts anything interesting of it. After about 30 minutes in the children room we switched rooms and the other group went into the children’s while we went into the living room and sat down and tried to recreate some of the motions that they have gone thru with the shadows in the kitchen. We decided we could not recreate what they have seen and went back to talking amongst ourselves. A digital recorder was in the room if anything comes of that it will be posted. When we decided that we were not getting anything in the living room we walked back to the children’s room where the rest of the group was and as we were talking I heard what sounded like a child's voice at the opposite end of the house. I asked if anyone else heard anything and no, again with in a minute or two I heard it again and at that time Jen heard something also. We walked out to the kitchen area we looked to see if the owner had returned and no they had not. After that I did not hear anything. We decided as a group to try and recreate a shadow figure where they mentioned they have seen it in the kitchen/ family room area. We could not recreate a shadow in that area. We also sat down on the children’s bed and to see if one could feel another person sit down on the edge of it and you could. The bed was not soft enough to make an impression on the sheets from when we sat there. The entire house felt pleasant, nothing bad. I took about 31 pictures and only a few dust orbs showed up nothing of a paranormal look came up thru my pictures. I will post what I have. We ended about 430p Thanks again

Sevren Jacobs:A big thank you to the home owner that welcomed us into their house to investigate! I used my Olympus 35mm camera and Olympus digital audio recorder with lapel microphone as my equipment on this investigation. During my stay I did not experience any paranormal activity and after reviewing my audio and photographs, did not encounter any evidence of that nature either. It was a very pleasant visit however.

 

Hugh McLenaghan:There didn't seem to be anything strange going on, and I didn't have any feelings there at all.

Becky Ray:On our initial walkthrough of the home, I took base EMF readings, and except the areas around the refrigerator and various power chargers the entire home was at an acceptable level. There were no EMF fluctuations during our investigation.
For the most part, this was a quiet investigation except for a couple of incidents. The first one happened to me early in the investigation, I had gone into the bathroom in the hallway while the rest of the group was in the back bedrooms setting up video and audio recorders. As I reached for the door to come out, I heard what sounded to me like a male voice right outside of the doorway talking in a loud whisper. I wasn't sure what was said, and assumed it was Hugh, so I opened the door to ask him what he had said, but no one was there. It was then that I discovered the rest of the group had moved on to the front of the house and was nowhere near me. 
About an hour and half after this Sevren, Hugh, and I were sitting in the children's room. Angela and Jennifer came in and were standing in the doorway as we talked about what we were going to do next. Both Angela and Jennifer reported hearing a noise in the main part of the home, both said it could have been a child's voice.
What is interesting to me about both of these occurances is that the family never reported hearing anything out of the ordinary. We have several audio recorders to review, so maybe we'll find an explanation for these two incidents.
Overall, the feeling in the home was one of calm.

Jennifer Sprague:We got to this place of residence around late noon. I went to the main areas of the house where the owner claimed she saw some paranormal activity. I started in one of the bedrooms and did some evp work in there. I let my audio recorder run for the entire duration of the investigation in that room. I am currently reviewing the recording and will share what I find with the group and post anything noteworthy in the 'evp' section should I come across anything. I also ran an emf sweep through the house and didnt notice any unexplained spikes in the meter. It remained at a low level throughout the investigation. Upon reviewing the video recording, I did notice some strange shadows that seemed to pass by the top part of the microwave in the kitchen ( which is another area that the owners claimed to have seen activity). There are many factors that can play into my observation of this and give it an explanation, there was a window in the room as well so it could have been the sun setting, clouds moving, people in the other room, something outside. Many different factors that could have caused it to happen. So it is hard to say for definite that it was something paranormal. An interesting note, at one point Angela and I did seem to hear what we thought was a child's voice coming from the main area of the house. I will continue to go through my recordings and post anything noteworthy that I come across. The owners were very nice people and I thank them so much for their time:)
