Location History
This building first opened in 1923 as Louisa May Alcott Grade School, serving the Kansas City, Kansas public school system in that capacity until 1976. The L. M. Alcott Grade school welcomed a lot of children into its rooms in the many years after it opened.
The school was closed in 1971 and remained closed until 1986 when the building housed the Alternative High School for dropouts and students needing only few credits for graduation. It was then renamed L. M. Alcott High School.
In 1999 the building was sold, and then in 2002 it was purchased from Central Avenue Betterment Association by the present L M Alcott Arts Foundation.
More history is available on their website http://www.alcottartscenter.org/about.htm

Investigators Notes

Bryan Kaplan:This was an interesting investigation. I recorded for 45 minutes and found a few EVP, which I hope to have uploaded to the site soon. I know the group hopes to come back to Alcott hopefully in January.
Becky Ray:This was my third visit to this location, and it is always an interesting place! For the short time we spent there this night, I felt like it was a successful visit and look forward to performing a full investigation at a later time.
No EVPS for this Investigation at this time

This is the telephone that was donated to the Alcott Arts Center for use as a prop after the phone's owner died. The phone has been heard ringing although it is not plugged into anything.
We were finding erratic readings on the stage, so Bryan and I did some investigation and found wiring and power lines outside of the building were the likely cause.
