Becky Ray, Lead Investigator: We started this investigation on the third floor and worked our way down to the basement.  When we initially arrived on the third floor we sat for a bit but decided there was still too much outside noise and light so we chose to go to the second floor with a few of us returning to the third floor later. 
On the second floor, I set up a motion-activated camera pointed towards the staircase from the cigar room. After everyone had made themselves acquainted with the second floor we sat for a bit in the library and conducted a brief EVP session. While we were in there Edward reported seeing a figure in the master bedroom and Christina reported seeing what appeared to be an arm of someone in the doorway. 
Next, we moved to the master bedroom and we immediately all noticed this room felt different from the others on the second floor. The air was very still.
After we had settled in we were having a general discussion and I saw what looked like a flash of white light in the hallway over the display case on the wall. I tried to describe what I saw but was not doing a very good job of it when it happened again, this time it was even smaller and appeared to be moving. I never saw it again that night. 
We next ventured into the smaller bedroom and after a bit, Edward and Jennifer returned to the third floor. During this time a group of unknown people arrived outside and began making a good deal of noise as they took prom photos around the mansion. This was very disruptive to our investigation so we took a short break while we waited for them to leave. However, during this time Edward and Jennifer did have some activity on the third floor and are reviewing their evidence. 
When we advanced to the basement I left a motion camera on the second floor and placed another one on the first floor pointed up the staircase. In the basement, I set up my full spectrum video camera. We briefly sat vigil before I turned on my laser grid to watch for any shadow movement. Several of us, myself included, witnessed shadows moving in one of the other rooms of the basement. A few of us followed this movement and it felt as if we were "chasing" whatever it was from room to room. It always seemed to be one room ahead of us. 
Overall this felt like a quiet investigation, but I will be surprised if we do not find some EVPs after review. Vaile is a beautiful mansion.

From Edward: 

Two interactions with possible spirits at the Vaile Mansion in Independence, MO, May 4, 2019.

1. All of us were on the second floor, gathered in the study on the southeast corner, across from the master bathroom. I was sitting more or less in the open doorway with my back to the hall. I believe the time was approximately 8:45-9 pm. The sun had set and the hallway was dimly lit. We were casually discussing things when I noticed out of the corner of my left eye a black shadow moving behind me in the hallway, going toward the front sitting room facing east. I quickly looked around the study and determined all of us were in the room and no one was walking -- everyone was sitting or standing. I glanced back into the hallway, but the shadow had disappeared.

2. Later in the evening, about 9:45 pm, we were all in the basement, sitting together in a large circle in the largest open area. (This would be on the south side of the house). It was dark, but a few of us had flashlights that occasionally were turned on. I was sitting close to an opening to the north room with my back to it. I could see into an open room to my left, which was the southeast corner of the house. I could also see the bathroom to my right. Some folks were seeing a possible black shadow in the room behind me. While that discussion was going on, I saw what appeared to be the upper body of a person, pale white with just enough form to suggest a person but no real details. That torso was moving forward out of the room on the left, as if striding into our room, took one or two steps into our room and then disappeared. That vision took no more than a few seconds.
